Appiano has a lot of elements of the Middle Ages, late Gothic, and Romantic areas. Naturally you can discover the mentioned architectural sigthseeings like Burg Hocheppan (open from Eatern to All Saint's Day from 10 am to 6 pm, closed on Wednesdays. Many of walkes end at this castle, such as the populary Burgenwanderung.
The large and small Montiggler lakes are ideal for swimming in the summer months, sourrounded by trees and hills they create a special atmospere.
